Collecting tracks from Borknagar's years on Century Media, For the Elements gathers up some of the progressive black metal band's best work from 1996 to 2006. Presented in chronological order, the album gives listeners the opportunity to hear the band's sound evolve as the album progresses, covering a decade of stylistic shifts and creative leaps in one fell swoop. While it's difficult to really distill a band as epic as Borknagar down to just 15 tracks, For the Elements provides a nice roadmap for new fans beginning their journey into a world of mind-expanding metal goodness.
